Eligibility Criteria for .travel

  • All .travel registrants must have a web site dedicated to the Travel Industry.

  • Any business, organization or individual whose primary online activity is within one of the twenty travel industry sectors identified below will be eligible:

  • 1. Airlines
    2. Attractions/Theme Parks
    3. Bed & Breakfast Houses
    4. Bus/Taxi/Limousine Operators
    5. Camp Facility Operators
    6. Car Rental Companies
    7. Computer Reservation/Travel Technology Provider
    8. Convention & Visitor's Bureaus
    9. Cruise Lines
    10. Ferries
    11. Hotels/Resorts/Casinos
    12. National Tourism Offices
    13. Passenger Rail Lines
    14. Restaurants
    15. Tour Operators
    16. Travel Agents
    17. Travel Media
    18. Travel-Consumer and Market Research Organizations
    19. Travel Insurance
    20. Travel Training Institutes

Domain Name Registration Criteria:

  • All name registered under .travel domain name will be second level.

  • Two character domain names will not be able to register.

  • Please note, the .travel registry, is administered and controlled by a third party, The Tralliance Corporation.

Domain Names Must Be Active:

  • The .travel registry, Tralliance Corporation has announced effective December 21 , 2007, each domain name must, within 60 days following the date of registration, and thereafter throughout the term of the domain name, be used as the domain name for a website displaying travel content relevant to the domain name, or in such other manner (such as email) that the Registry may approve after review. Domain names used as contemplated above may resolve directly to the relevant website or be forwarded or redirected to another domain name displaying travel content relevant to the domain name.

    The .travel Registry, Tralliance Corporation, will, from time to time, conduct continuing or recurring audits of domain names registered on or after December 21, 2007 to ensure continued compliance with these requirements. Failure to comply will result in a notice providing 30-days to comply. Non-compliance following such a notice period may result in revocation of the relevant domain name, at the discretion of the Registry. Any registrant revoked by the Tralliance Corporation ( the registry) for failing to comply within the 30 day notice period, will not be entitled to any refund. There are no exceptions.
